If you’re a photographer in Rexburg, Idaho, looking for a colorful, peaceful, and beautifully maintained outdoor location, the BYU-Idaho Ricks Gardens should be at the top of your list. This quiet gem, nestled right on the BYU-Idaho campus, is one of the best places to take pictures in Rexburg—whether you're shooting engagements, bridals, family photos, senior portraits, or content creation.
The Ricks Gardens photography location is a stunning mix of flower beds, winding pathways, gazebos, fountains, and curated landscaping. It’s an ideal backdrop for clean, romantic, and vibrant images that pop with color and texture—especially during late spring, summer, and early fall.
From the moment you step inside, you’ll notice the care and intention put into every corner. The combination of nature and structure makes it incredibly versatile for all kinds of sessions.
Located on the east side of campus, the Ricks Gardens are near the Thomas E. Ricks Horticulture Building. There's convenient parking nearby, and the gardens are wheelchair- and stroller-friendly—great for families or clients who need easy access.
Ricks Gardens is only a short walk away from the BYU-Idaho Apple Orchard and the Nature Park, so if you want to add some variety to your session, you can easily shoot in multiple locations without driving anywhere else.
May through September is best. That’s when the flowers are in bloom and everything looks vibrant.
Is the garden wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Where should I park for a photo session?
You can! For bridals we would suggest somewhere a little more secluded and special because bridal photos usually are ones people hang up!
